Reviews

This is a special place to stay - a real haven. I spent one night at Scaurbridge House as part of a long distance cycle ride, and soon wished I had scheduled an extra night there. The house is magnificently stylish but Elizabeth Ann's warm welcome is what I will remember most. She is an accomplished hostess, unobtrusively making her guests feel completely relaxed and welcome. The best night's sleep of my trip was followed by a wonderful three course breakfast including a compote of home-grown fruits, and I was sent on my way with home-made scones for the next leg of the journey. Truly a memorable visit.

Booked B&B at Scaurbridge House (just 2 miles from Thornhill in Dumfriesshire) and found a gem. The owner cooks like a dream and nothing is too much trouble. The house was an old manse and is filled with books paintings furniture. The rooms are large and well proportioned and warm. Rooms have shutters which keep light out very effectively. EA was such a warm hostess we loved it.

Thank you Elizabeth Ann for being such a wonderful host! Your home is gorgeous and your cooking binge-worthy! My only wish is we could have stayed longer. Scaurbridge House was a great start to our Scottish holiday! Looking forward to the next time already!

The previous reviews are spot on for the the fabulous experience we had October 15, 2016. Our gracious, lovely host greeted us and we knew as we stepped over E.A.'s threshold that we had just met a new friend. Our room was beautiful, spacious, full of antiquities and oh so comfortable. Regretfully, it was just one night's stay. Dinner was a gourmet experience, locally sourced. Breakfast was equally fabulous, especially the homemade scones and jams. We apologize for having to rush off, as it would have been lovely to linger over all the wonderful food and have more spirited conversation. EA created two pearl necklaces, specifically for myself and our daughter. They are beautiful and will be a fond memory of our stay at Scaurbridge.
